If you want to configure multiple devices in a similar manner, you can do so easily by using device templates. By loading a device template into a device, you import all settings, services and data sources that you have configured in your device template. Please use the links below for easy navigation:
Create a device template
To save yourself the struggle of configuring multiple devices in the same manner over and over again, you first have to create a device template. Follow the steps below to create a device template.
- Go to the CloudVPN Portal Fleet Manager app, which is accessible from the Apps menu in the top right corner if you are currently in a different CloudVPN Portal app.
- Open the main menu , go to Device templates , and select Add template.
- You now have two options:
Create a new device template
By creating a new device template you can select every setting that you want to configure in your device template manually. Please follow the steps below to create a new device template.
- Click on[Create new]
- Enter a Name and the Device type you want to create a template for.
You now enter a unconfigured mock device. In this environment you can create a device template by adding settings to the template manually. There are many options that you can configure. You can choose to:
- Configure LAN settings
- Configure Firewall settings
- Add pages to the device template
- Add services to the device template
- Add and configure data sources for Cloud Logging and Cloud Notify
Now that you have created a device template, you can use the template by configuring a device from that template.
Create a template from an existing device
When you have already configured a device in the way you want the template to be, you can use an existing device configuration as a starting point. Please follow the steps below to create a template from an existing device.
- Click on [Create from registered device]
- Enter a Name and select the Device you want to base your template on.
You can now enter the device template based on the configured device. By clicking on the name that you just gave the template you can see what settings are saved and you can make changes to the device template. You can choose to:
- Configure LAN settings
- Configure Firewall settings
- Add pages to the device template
- Add services to the device template
- Add and configure data sources for Cloud Logging and Cloud Notify
Now that you have created a device template, you can use the template by configuring a device from that template.
Make changes to a device template
If something in your configured set-up changes, you can make changes in the device template by following the steps below:
- Go to the CloudVPN Portal Fleet Manager app, which is accessible from the Apps menu in the top right corner if you are currently in a different CloudVPN Portal app.
- Open the main menu , go to Device templates , and select name of the device template you want to change.
- You can now make the following changes to the device template:
Configure a device from a template
When you have configured your device template you can use it to configure a new device. Please follow the steps below to configure a device from a template.
- Go to the CloudVPN Fleet Manager app, which is accessible from the Apps menu in the top right corner if you are currently in a different CloudVPN Portal app.
- Open the main menu , go to Devices , and select the concerning device.
- Go to More and select Load device template.
- Select a device template and choose which settings you would like to use.
Device templates are specific to a CloudVPN router generation or a CloudVPN Agent type. If you don't see a device template, please make sure if the device template is for the correct device.
